Abstract
Renovating the teaching of political theory within the national education system aims to achieve new progress with better results and higher quality, thereby helping Marxism–Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s Thought, and the Party’s guidelines and viewpoints maintain their leading role in social life. Therefore, alongside reforms in curricula, textbooks, and teaching methods, the innovation of assessment and evaluation to meet the demands of higher education is also an important measure that directly contributes to improving the quality of political theory instruction for students at colleges and universities in Vietnam. The objective of this study is to propose a number of innovative approaches to testing and evaluating the learning outcomes of students enrolled in the course History of the Communist Party of Vietnam at universities and colleges. By applying both theoretical and practical research methods, this article proposes new approaches to designing questions and organizing assessments for the subject History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, oriented toward competency-based evaluation. The results of this study provide a crucial reference for lecturers at colleges and universities nationwide in the process of innovating assessment methods in line with the goal of developing learners’ competencies.
