SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF INCENSE MAKING JOB ASSOCIATED WITH COMMUNITY TOURISM: A CASE STUDY IN PHIA THAP INCENSE CRAFT VILLAGE, CAO BANG PROVINCE

Abstract

Traditional craft development associated with tourism development is the combination of two economic and cultural activities to create dual benefits, both preserving and promoting the value of traditional crafts and developing tourism. The research was conducted to show an overall picture of incense making job development and tourism development status, thereby proposing solutions to promote incense making job development associated with tourism development in Phia Thap incense craft village, Cao Bang province. The research was conducted by secondary information collection, household structured interviews, visitor structured interviews, group discussions and in-depth interviews. The study has shown that although there is a lot of potentials, incense making job development and tourism development in Phia Thap incense craft village still have shortcomings and limitations such as lack of initiative in input materials, low product quality, unstable number of tourists coming to the craft village, poor environmental sanitation in the craft village, no focal unit to manage tourism activities in the village, the connection with travel businesses and the connection between households in the village is still limited... The study has proposed three groups of solutions to promote incense making job development associated with tourism development in Phia Thap incense craft village.
