COMMUNICATION POLITENESS IN QUAN HO FORK SONGS
Abstract
Quan ho folk songs are the typical folk songs of the Northern Delta region (Vietnam) with the typical form of call and respond singing. The paper used qualitative research methods (collecting, analyzing materials, classifying, describing types of politeness, methods of expressing politeness in Quan ho folk songs). The communicate politeness in the folk songs is shown in two aspects: conventionalized politeness and strategic politeness. These types are expressed by the following methods: strategic politeness (using vocative words, modal words, using hedges words, using strategic movement in communication associated speech acts); conventionalized politeness (using standard in social behavioral culture). Studying politeness in Quan ho folk songs has shown the cultural behavior of Kinh Bac people: love of lightness, subterness in communication.
