QUALITY OF TOURISM ENVIRONMENT: A CASE STUY IN PHONG DIEN DISTRICT, CAN THO CITY

Abstract

The growth of tourism makes a vital contribution to the socio-economic regeneration and development. Tourism takes place in the environment, therefore, its sustainable development depends on the quality of the environment. For the purpose of providing evidence for Phong Dien district in implementing solutions to improve the quality of tourism environment, this study was carried out. The research sample consisted of 154 tourists and respondents surveyed by questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, scale reliability testing, exploratory factor and multivariate regression analysis were used to process the data. The research results show that the tourism environment in Phong Dien district is made up of the cultural, socio-economic and natural tourism environment. The quality of the local tourism environment is affected with a decreasing level from the quality of the above three types of environment. The cultural and natural tourism environment is well appreciated, while the socio-economic tourism environment has not been appreciated. 6/17 attributes of environmental quality need to be improved. This study contributes significantly to the theory and evidence in the field of environment and environment quality of tourism.
