Developing Cultural Industries in the Draft Documents of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam: New Perceptions and New Orientations
Abstract
Cultural industries are increasingly becoming a sector of significant importance in the economic and cultural development of many countries, closely associated with digital transformation, the creative economy, and international integration. In Vietnam, the requirements of renewing the growth model, promoting soft power, and enhancing national competitiveness have raised the need to reassess the position of cultural industries within the development strategy. In 2014, Resolution No. 33 of the 9th Plenum of the 11th Central Committee marked the first time the Party affirmed the development of cultural industries as one of the key tasks in advancing culture and human development. The Draft Documents of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam reflect a new advance in thinking by emphasizing the role of culture and cultural industries as an important endogenous resource for development. This article analyzes the necessity of incorporating the development of cultural industries into the Draft Documents of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, identifies new points related to this field, and assesses the theoretical and practical significance of these new orientations for Vietnam’s current socio-cultural development.
