Evaluation of the results of the pilot model for water and sanitation management in school adapting to climate change at Bac Ha high school No. 2, Lao Cai province
Abstract
Nowadays, climate change is becoming more complex and unpredictable so ensuring clean water sanitation and hygiene in schools will be more difficult. Objective: Developing and piloting a model on water and sanitation hygene (WASH) management for climate change resilient school to ensure a safe learning-environment for
students in different conditions. In this intervention study Toolkit on WASH that was developed by Viet Nam Institute of Occupational Health and Environmental Health (NIOEH) & United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) was applied to assess the efficiency of WASH model in providing clean water sanitation and good hygene practices before and after interventions in selected school. After the pilot period, Bac Ha High School No. 2 improved from a 1-star rating rised a 3-star, achieving 84.48% of the total evaluation score.
