Assess the current pollution situation and propose some solutions to improve water quality in Than Tho and Van Quan lake

Abstract

The cluster of lakes in Van Quan urban area plays an important role in regulating climate, culture and entertainment... for the surrounding community life. However, with the development of urban areas, surface water pollution of Than Tho and Van Quan Lakes is a burning problem. This study was carried out to assess the current pollution status of water quality at 10 sampling points in the period March 2022 and June 2022 of Than Tho and Van Quan Lakes, Ha Dong district, Hanoi city with method: lake water sampling; sample analysis; Compare, evaluate and process data. The results showed that the water in both lakes was slightly polluted because most parameters at the sampling points exceeded the allowable limits in regulations; Group of parameters that are closely correlated with each other such as COD, PO4^3--P, NH4 ⁺-N (r>0.7) và DO, COD, NO₃-N (r>-0.8); The water quality of Than Tho Lake is better than Van Quan Lake and the water quality in the rainy season is better than the dry season of both lakes; The study has proposed a number of possible solutions to improve water quality..
