Environmental carrying capacity assessment in coastal of Quang Tri province

Abstract

    The coastal waters of Quang Tri province is received wastewater from Vinh Linh, Gio Linh, Trieu Phong and Hai Lang districts with the main waste sources being daily life, livestock and aquaculture. Beacause of the low water exchange rate (R: 58.89 %) and high pollutants load in effluents is discharged into near-shore waters, the concentration of some parameters in sea water has exceeded the limit of QCVN. Simulation-research results have shown that the environmental carrying capacity of near-shore waters in Quang Tri province in 2030 will decrease significantly. With the pollutants load of effluents is discharged into the coastal waters of Quang Tri province, most parameters in the organic and nutrient groups are overloaded. Based on the research results, environmental protection solutions for near-shore waters of Quang Tri province have been proposed: i/ Pollution management, ii/ Redistribution of of sea water circulation and iii/ Engagement of community.
