Abstract

The decoupling Theory proposes that economic growth can be decoupled from environmental degradation, allowing continued economic expansion while reducing environmental impact. This study explores the origins, development, and applications of the decoupling theory, analyzes the empirical evidence supporting and challenging the theory, and considers its implications for the development sustainability in Australia. The article concludes with a discussion of the policy measures and technological innovations needed to achieve economic growth while reducing emissions in Australia.
