Assessing the impacts of environmental pollution on tourism in Nam Du Island Commune, Kien Hai District, Kien Giang Province
Abstract
Nam Du island commune, Kien Hai district, Kien Giang province, is one of the rapidly developing marine ecotourism destinations in Vietnam. However, the rapid increase in the number of tourists and the accompanying economic activities has led to many environmental pollution problems. This study assesses the impacts of environmental pollution on tourism activities in Nam Du Island commune, through field surveys, interviews with local people and tourists, and analysis of existing environmental data. Research results indicate that solid waste pollution, domestic wastewater and the deterioration of marine environmental quality are negatively affecting the tourism experience, reducing the attractiveness of the destination and threatening the sustainable development of local tourism.
