Internatinal Experience on Establishing Technical Guidelines for Indentifying of The Cause of Mass Fish Deaths

Abstract

Mass fish deaths are common in the world and in Vietnam, causing economic losses to fishermen, adverse impacts on environmental quality and potential risks of social conflicts among the parties involved. This study focuses on analyzing international experience in developing technical guidelines for determining the causes of mass fish deaths in some countries around the world such as the US, Australia, Ireland and South Africa. On that basis, a technical guidance has been proposed to indentify the cause of mass fish deaths in Vietnam, including 4 stages: pre-incident stage, initiation stage, investigation stage and conclusion stage.
