The physic - geographical, geological - geomorphological characteristics of the Yen Tu Mountain Range
Abstract
The Yen Tu Mountain Range belongs to the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong. This Mountain Range, peaked with Yen Tu Mountain at an altitude of 1,068m asl, since thousands of years ago has been considered a “Sacred land with extraordinary people” of Giao Chau, the original hometown of the Tran family that later established a brilliant dynasty of Dai Viet in the 13-14th centuries, and the “ancestral land of Vietnam’s Truc Lam Zen Buddhism”. This area is famous for many scenic spots, majestic landscapes, special and unique historical-cultural relics, traditions and beliefs of tangible and intangible heritage values that are still preserved and promoted at present. They are the evidence of a unique cultural tradition - the tradition of exploitation and use of the pre-mountainous and mountainous areas of the Yen Tu Mountain Range, which will be presented in the following 3 articles. This article provides an overview of the physico-geographical and geological-geomorphological features of the Yen Tu Mountain Range.
