Economic circular approach for urban tourism

Abstract

Transitioning to a circular economy (CE) is becoming a strong trend in many countries around the world, including the European Union (EU), China, and ASEAN countries, due to the economic and environmental benefits it offers. Implementing CE can be seen as one of the breakthrough solutions for addressing the relationship between the economy and the environment in the context of industrial development, urbanization, changes in consumption patterns, and lifestyle. Tourism in general, and urban tourism in particular, have their unique characteristics and contain the potential to apply CE in both the supply and demand aspects of tourism activities. Through research and analysis of the characteristics of urban tourism
in Vietnam, the study has proposed a set of solutions to approach and apply CE from both the supply and demand perspectives of tourism services.
