Abstract
Equal access to resources is not only a right for both women and men, but also an important factor contributing to enhancing empowerment and status for both genders. However, in reality, gender inequality in access to resources still exists. Based on quantitative survey results from 9,094 household representatives in 13 provinces and cities nationwide, the paper reflects the differences between women and men in accessing family resources, including being named as household heads, being listed on land use rights certificates, and owning valuable assets. The survey results show gender inequality in access to family resources, especially regarding land and valuable household assets. This situation tends to be more prevalent in rural areas and among ethnic minority groups. Such disparities can affect women’s development opportunities and economic empowerment, thereby becoming a barrier to promoting gender equality.
