THE IMPACT OF TOURISM ON NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND LOCAL SUPPORT FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT – A CASE STUDY IN DA LAT CITY, LAM DONG PROVINCE
Abstract
Tourism is a significant contributor to the economy and sustainable development of each tourist destination. In recent years, the development of tourism in Da Lat has significantly impacted the natural environment, noticeable to residents. The growth of tourism has led to environmental degradation and raised numerous environmental concerns and undesirable conditions. This study aims to explore whether the impacts of tourism on the natural environment affect the local support for tourism development in Da Lat City. To achieve this research objective, a quantitative method was employed with a sample of 280 participants, and the data were analyzed using SPSS software. The research results indicate a significant relationship between the impacts of tourism on the natural environment and the local support for tourism development. Additionally, the study shows that residents' perception of negative impacts outweighs positive impacts, but they still support tourism development in Da Lat. Based on the research findings, the article proposes implications to minimize negative impacts and promote sustainable environmental protection in Da Lat city.
