APPLYING BAYESIAN NETWORK FOR ASSESSING THE CAUSATION PROBABILITY OF VESSELS ON NAVIGATION CHANNEL

Abstract

Collision is the main cause of maritime accidents. This paper presents an approach to analyze the causes of collision by applying the Bayesian network (BN). The model accurately provides measures to prevent collision accidents by calculating the probability of collision and further analyzing the causes of collision accidents based on their relationships in BNs. This is the fundament to establish proper safety management measures for authorities, companies, or crews to lower the occurrence of collision accidents.
