Abstract

Ship propeller shafts are covered by shaft sleeves to protect from wear and corrosion. These mating parts are normally interference-fitted and determined almost by experience. The aim of this study is to establish a general procedure to estimate necessary interference-fit for propeller shaft-sleeve mating parts based on working load.
