RESEARCH ON FACTORS IMPACTING ON USING PORT INFORMATION SYSTEM IN CONTAINER TERMINALS IN HAIPHONG PORT

Abstract

Port information system plays an important role and crucial significance in port operations in general and container terminals particularly. Nowadays, 16 container terminals operating in Haiphong Port have a massive influence on the import and export procedure of the local and the whole nation, but the performance and competitiveness of the whole port still limit due to the non-uniformity and independence of using port information system. The research aims to determine factors impacting on using port information system in container terminals in Haiphong Port by a combination between Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). With a questionnaire survey of 21 experts from stakeholders related to using port information system, the result collected from software R shows 03 factors (levels of output quality improvement, individual demand suitability, and easy usage) have bigger impacts, whereas the social tendancy is opposite. It is a basis to propose measures stimulating the usage of port information system in next research.
