CURRENT SITUATION AND MENTAL HEALTH CARE NEEDS OF WOMEN IN DISTRICT 5, HO CHI MINH CITY
Abstract
In Vietnam, living standards have been steadily improving, but people's mental health is weakening. Although the government and non-governmental organizations introduced policies to support mental health, many people face barriers to accessing these services. The study randomly selected participants in residential areas in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, to understand the current state of women’s mental health and their needs for mental health care. Using both structured questionnaires and in-depth interviews, the study assesses the frequency of psychological distress symptoms and the need for mental health care of the respondents. The paper proposes some mental health care activities tailored for the specific needs of women in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.
