Abstract

Tis article focuses on analyzing the situation of informal female workers in
accessing health insurance in Da Lat city, thereby proposing an empirical model to help
informal female workers access the community-based health insurance service. Te Research
methods used are: secondary research, a combination of quantitative research methods,
qualitative research methods, and questionnaire interviews with 367 informal female
workers in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province. Te survey results by interview questionnaires
show that up to 81.2% of informal female workers in Da Lat city have their health
insurance and the rest of them (18,8%) do not have access to health insurance. Reasons
can be traced back to such facts as: economic status of the family (lack of money), lack
of comprehensive understanding on health insurance’s benefts, insufcient and ineffective
means of propaganda in raising awareness and changing behavior of the workers. Base on
the fndings, the research proposes an experimental model to help informal female workers
access community – based health insurance.
