About the Journal

VIETNAMESE MEDICAL JOURNAL: Quality is the Core – Improvement is a Continuous Journey

Throughout its development, the Vietnamese Medical Journal (VMJ) has consistently adhered to one principle: academic quality and continuous quality improvement are the foundation for building prestige, disseminating medical knowledge, and serving the professional community.

The Editorial Board sincerely thanks the authors, expert reviewers, professional associations, training and research institutions, and partners who have accompanied, contributed to, and trusted VMJ over the past time. Their frank feedback and impartial reviews are crucial driving forces that help the Journal improve its processes, standardize publication, and enhance transparency.

To standardize best publishing practices and enhance transparency throughout the entire process, VMJ officially updates and publishes several key documents/forms:
• Standardizing the submission – screening – peer review – editing – publication process, emphasizing scientific integrity, technical/ethical checks, and a minimum of two peer reviewers and a decision-making committee for each manuscript, while implementing online publication with DOI and Open-Access.

• Announcing article publication costs (APC) according to a transparent and timely process.

• Mandatory declaration of conflicts of interest (COI) by authors to ensure objectivity in scientific evaluation and publication.

• Author's copyright commitment and confirmation of non-concurrent submission, contributing to preventing duplicate publications and protecting the legal rights of authors/journals.

• Regulations on post-publication retraction and forms of scientific document correction (corrections/warnings/concerns…), strengthening mechanisms for handling errors and ensuring scientific integrity.

• Forms for processing retractions (retraction request form; retraction notification) help make the process transparent, consistent, and in line with international practices.

These updates demonstrate VMJ's commitment to approaching widely recommended ethical and editorial standards (COPE/ICMJE/DOAJ).

Orientation towards regional and international integration

VMJ is implementing a roadmap to upgrade quality and standardization to integrate into the regional journal system (MASEAN) and gradually meet the criteria for expanding its presence in international indexing systems such as Web of Science/ISI and Scopus (standardizing processes, policy transparency, improving metadata, enhancing peer review quality…).
