NEW SOLUTION TO SUPPORT CHEATING DETECTION IN ONLINE EXAMS

Abstract

Innovating examining in the direction ofpromoting technology, and bringing technology intoexams is an inevitable trend because it minimizesunnecessary human intervention, approaching theworld's examining and evaluation approach. Manyuniversities around the world have been buildingonline training systems to manage learning andorganize online exams. This study builds a newmonitoring function during the online exam process.A function is implemented on the computer deviceto detect the temporary exit behavior of candidates.Each time a candidate exits the test, the function willcontinuously save the screen image of thecandidate's device in real time on the server. Theimages are saved as a basis for determining whetherthe contestant has cheated or not. The function ispractically implemented in the subjects of 23 classeswith about 1500 students from the 2021 to 2024school year at Hanoi University of Education andgives accurate results in identifying cheatingbehavior of candidates with the rates according toschool years being 40%, 19.37%, and 2.9%
