Abstract
France and Russia are two great centersin the world of mathematics. For many historicalreasons, Vietnam’s education, in general, andmathematics education, in particular, have manyconnections with and have been influenced bothpositively and negatively by these countries. Thisreport represents the results of theoretical researchon the New Math movement, and the history ofmathematics education in France, Russia, andVietnam. We have conducted several investigations,summarized experience, and interviewed expertsto determine these relationships and their influenceon Vietnam’s mathematics education.
