The situation of awareness and measures to develop coherent speech for children aged 5 - 6 years through storytelling activities in some preschools in the Thai Nguyen province

Abstract

By using qualitative research methods, the article focuses on clarifying the reality of coherent speech development for preschoolers aged 5-6 years through storytelling activities in preschool. The study was conducted with 168 preschool teachers who have been or are teaching older children in kindergarten (5-6 years old) in Thai Nguyen province. Research results show that there is an unequal level of awareness of teachers related to coherent speech and coherent speech development for preschoolers. Besides the majority of teachers with full and correct awareness, there is still a significant portion of teachers with incorrect and inappropriate awareness of this issue. The survey results also show that the level of implementation of coherent speech development for preschool children 5-6 years old through storytelling activities in preschool is irregular and unbalanced. These research results contribute to providing useful information in building measures to develop coherent speech for 5-6 years old preschool children
