Abstract
According to educational researchers,effective learning is not only just sitting in classesspectating other activities, and memorizingavailable imparted knowledge, but learners alsoshould participate in the discovery process of newknowledge guided by instructors. It is necessary toapply the discovery learning method to teachingthe subjects in general and teaching Mathematicsin particular in the direction of developing thecompetencies and qualities for students. This paperfocuses on researching the concept ofthe discoverylearning method and its characteristics. Based onresearching the Mathematics curriculum andpractical teaching in The Lao People's DemocraticRepublic, this paper proposes applying thediscovery learning method to teachingtrigonometric equations at high schools in the LaoPeople's Democratic Republic
