Abstract

In the treasure trove of Thai proverbs and idioms, idioms with words referring to human body parts account for a significant number. Analyzing images and symbolic meanings in idioms as well as Thai cultural imprints through idioms and comparing them with Vietnamese idioms shows the similarities and differences between the two languages in terms of semantics and symbolism. In addition, analyzing the didactic and critical values of idioms with elements referring to body parts will also help Thai learners in particular and readers in general better understand language characteristics, life, country and people of Thailand. That understanding will help us behave appropriately when communicating or working with Thai people. This is really necessary in the context that the relationship between the two countries is increasingly expanding, and exchanges and cooperation are taking place more and more in all fields.
