Abstract

The article uses the questionnaire survey method, surveying the learning strategies of Chinese characters of 206 students majoring in Chinese Language, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages - Information Technology (HUFLIT). The results show that students have a high frequency of using Chinese character learning strategies. In the metacognitive strategies, students often use control strategies rather than planning strategies. In the cognitive strategies, students often use revision strategies and mother tongue strategies, and the least used strategies are application strategies. In the socio-affective strategies, students often used affective strategies rather than social strategies. There is no difference in the use of Chinese character learning strategies between male and female students, between students from the central provinces and cities and students from the southern provinces and cities.
