Abstract

Color is one of the first concepts that people learn from the world. The cognition of colors among languages ​​is diverse, creating difficulties to learners in the process of language acquisition. This paper is aimed to analyze the word for color 青-ao (cyan), which consists of two shades, blue and green, from the perspective of cognitive linguistics in order to elucidate the emotional conceptual metaphor model using the source domain 青-ao (cyan) in Japanese and the abstract target domain emotion. Research results have shown that the Japanese word for color 青-ao (cyan) reflects negative emotional concepts, including: anger, fear, sadness and jealousy.
