Knowledge and attitudes of caring for vaccinated-children under 12 months of age in Tay Ninh City, Tay Ninh Province
Abstract
This study aimed to describe the knowledge and attitudes toward childhood immunization for children under 12 months of age among mothers/caregivers and to identify related factors in Tay Ninh City in 2023. A cross-sectional design was conducted on 599 mothers/caregivers from January 2022 to November 2023. Results showed that 33.2 % of participants had accurate knowledge about childhood immunization, and 50.3 % had a positive attitude. Factors significantly associated with positive attitudes included education level, occupation, family support, receiving immunization reminders, previous post-immunization reactions, and knowledge (p < 0.05). Participants with education levels of vocational training or higher had more positive attitudes (OR = 1.52). Housewives (OR = 0.49) and business workers (OR = 0.53) showed fewer positive attitudes compared to government employees. Not receiving immunization reminders (OR = 0.52), having children with prior adverse reactions (OR = 0.66), and having insufficient knowledge (OR = 0.70) were associated with a lower likelihood of having a positive attitude.
