Abstract

Higher education plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable development, particularly in the field of Interior Design. In the context of globalization and the ever-evolving transformation of environmental standards, integrating sustainability into teaching practices has become both a pedagogical trend and a critical necessity. However, in Viet Nam, the adoption of advanced technologies and innovative teaching methodologies remains relatively limited. This study proposes practical-oriented educational innovations aimed at enhancing teaching effectiveness. Using a document analysis and comparative approach, the research examines both global and local contexts alongside pedagogical innovation trends. Key strategies include digitalization of sustainability content, enhancing experiential learning, and implementing project-based learning (PBL). Additionally, the study advocates for Blended Learning courses that integrate online instruction with hands-on practice, optimizing knowledge acquisition through the cyclical LEAPs model (Learn, Execute, Assess, Progress). These initiatives will enable students to grasp sustainable interior design trends, engage authentic projects, and enhance both their technical skills and practical application. The research underscores the importance of university-industry collaboration in fostering innovation and sustainable development. The proposed solutions hold significant potential for improving teaching quality and realizing the objectives of sustainability-driven education in the field of Interior Design.
