Preserving and promoting cultural values of the S’tieng people in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province

Abstract

    This study aims to assess the current status of preserving the traditional culture of the Stieng people in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province, under the impacts of modernization and integration, and propose solutions to protect and promote national identity in the context of sustainable development. Qualitative research methods were used, based on the analysis and synthesis of secondary sources such as scientific reports, research works and related policy documents. Results indicated that some cultural elements such as language, costumes, festivals and traditional cuisine were still maintained, yet facing the risk of fading due to changes in social life. The study contributes two new values: (1) Providing an overview of the current status of preserving the Stieng culture, clarifying opportunities and challenges; (2) Propose practical solutions by combining heritage conservation with socio-economic development to improve the effectiveness of cultural protection work. These findings contributed to preserving national identity and supported sustainable development for the Stieng community in Loc Ninh, while providing a scientific basis for future cultural policies.
