Adaptive Reuse Trends: Current Situation and Interior Design Solutions for Existing Buildings in Ho Chi Minh City
Abstract
Adaptive reuse in interior design is an emerging trend that transforms existing buildings for new purposes through interior design, thereby aiming to simultaneously achieve multiple goals: optimizing the value of existing structures, minimizing environmental impacts, preserving architectural heritage, and meeting contemporary functional needs. This study focuses on analyzing the current application of adaptive reuse in interior design in Ho Chi Minh City, and proposes policy and design solutions. Through the analysis of real-world projects and comparison with global trends, the research highlights that adaptive reuse not only generates economic and social value but also contributes to preserving local cultural identity. The findings underscore the critical role of adaptive reuse in interior design in creating comfortable, modern living spaces while safeguarding architectural and environmental values in Ho Chi Minh City.
