Recycling clothing from the used jeans
Abstract
The rapid development of fast fashion has encouraged consumers to discard their garments only after a short period of time because they are damaged, unfit or "out of style", causing a huge amount of waste and environmental pollution. . Jeans are an essential item for everyone, as they are durable, easy to maintain, easy to clean, suitable for all ages, create unique style and personality for the wearer. However, jeans are difficult to decompose and emit methane and many toxic gases that heavily pollute the environment. Thus, recycling old jeans helps reduce fashion waste, bring benefits to the community and creates opportunities for students in fashion design major to utilize their creativity to extend the product shelf-life. The study is conducted with the aim to lower wastes from the fashion industry, save production cost for the society, and open new directions for sustainable development.
