Abstract

Evidence-based practice (EBP) competence is highly valued in nursing education as a mean to enhance the quality and effectiveness of patient care. This study aimed to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to EBP among nursing students and determine the factors predicting EBP competency. A total of 296 nursing students participated in a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted at Nguyen Tat Thanh University between February and May 2024. The overall score on the EBP-COQ questionnaire was 3.19 ± 0.33. The mean scores for the knowledge, attitude, and skills scales were 2.92 ± 0.53, 3.67 ± 0.47, and 3.01 ± 0.40, respectively. Several  factors significantly influenced EBP knowledge, attitudes, and skills, including academic level, English-language proficiency, access to EBP journals and Internet resources, training in EBP and research methodology, familiarity with EBP, and intention to implement EBP (p < 0.05). Nguyen Tat Thanh nursing students demonstrated positive attitudes but moderate knowledge and skills towards EBP. Therefore, developing effective strategies for EBP curriculum remains essential.
