Developing a stem-based lesson plan for the topic "Experience with a few parts" in math subject grade 3
Abstract
This study designs a lesson plan for the topic “Experiencing Fractions” in Grade 3 Mathematics based on STEM education to enhance teaching effectiveness and develop students’ thinking skills and the application of mathematics in real-life situations. This approach has been piloted at the primary level since the 2022–2023 school year through various forms such as STEM lessons, experiential activities, and introductory scientific research and engineering. However, the organization of these lessons still faces certain limitations. This article provides an overview of STEM education at the primary level, the structure of a lesson plan designed under this approach, and illustrates a lesson plan for the topic “Experiencing Fractions.” It will support primary school teachers in mastering the design and organization of teaching Mathematics using STEM education. The research results indicate that this approach not only provides opportunities for students to develop thinking skills and creatively apply interdisciplinary knowledge to real-life situations but also fosters active participation and nurtures students’ love for learning Mathematics.
