Financial analyis using effective of swamp eel (Monopterus albus) farming in Cai Lay, Tien Giang province

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the financial status using swamp eel farming in Cai Lay, Tien Giang province in 2023 via surveying 30 swamp eel farmers. The result showed that this status including total cost of swamp eel farming was 14.9 million VND.10m-2.crop-1; total revenue was 33.06 million VND.10m-2.crop-1; the profit was 18.06 million VND.10m-2.crop-1and farming profit ratio was 1.2. Regression result showed that the profit positively correlated with the purchase price of commercial swamp eel, cultured productivity but negatively correlated with change costs including fingerling cost, feed cost and drug cost. According to farmer's assessment, swamp eel farming brought them a big income (23.3%) and a quite income (43.3%). The currently biggest disadvantage the farmers faced is the continuously increasing of feed price and drug price. Moreover, 100% of swamp eel farming owners wanted to continue developing swamp eel culture in Cai Lay area.
