Current situation and some solutions for developing community-based tourism in Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province

Abstract

Community-based tourism has been becoming a typical type of tourism, attracting a large number of tourists to Dong Thap. Among the 84 community-based tourism destinations being exploited (Decision No. 1290/QD-People's Committee-Administrative dated November 22, 2022), the lotus fields in Thap Muoi district are considered the most typical model for community tourism in Dong Thap. On actual results obtained from surveying stakeholders in community-based tourism, the author analyzed the current situation and proposed some solutions on infrastructure, human resources, tourism products, promotional activities and especially strengthening local community factors to effectively develop this service in the district.
