Exploiting the cultural resources of lotus flower for tourism promotion and development in Dong Thap Province
Abstract
Lotus flower is not only familiar in Vietnam but also popular in many countries worldwide. It holds natural and cultural values and plays a significant role in the economic development and tourism promotion of Dong Thap province. This article aims to analyze the cultural value of this flower and propose ways to exploit its cultural material in product promotion and tourism development in Dong Thap. Secondary data were based on previous researchers, combined with observational methods through field surveys. The results show that the flower carries cultural value and is a symbol of Dong Thap. The article proposes exploiting this cultural material through human qualities, cultural memory values, and cultural institutions associated with the lotus, creating a distinct identity for Dong Thap compared to other provinces nationwide.
