Craft villages in Lap Vo District Dong Thap Province in preserving local cultural identity

Abstract

This article studies a number of craft villages in Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province in preserving local cultural identity. The cultural values from craft villages help local authorities and craft villages have appropriate policies to effectively preserve and promote traditions. Data were collected and analyzed via books, newspapers, the internet, field trips to traditional craft villages in this district. The research results show that in Lap Vo district, many traditional craft villages such as Dinh Yen mat village, Dinh An cutting board making village, Binh An chicken feather broom village not only preserve and develop typical handicraft products, but also contribute to highlighting the lovely, dynamic, creative culture of Dong Thap. These craft villages have become integral part of local economic and social life, making an important contribution to maintaining traditional professions, generating income for people and promoting sustainable development and community connection.
