FORMING COGNITIVE CREATIVENESS COMPETENCY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH WRITING CRITICAL ESSAYS

Abstract

In modern point of view, teaching should focus on "awakening" the learners' self-consciousness, activeness, flexibility, creativity, etc. to change cognitive thinking. At high school education and for teaching critical essays in particular, teachers need to "awaken" and form learners’ cognitive creativeness competency - the comprehensively integrated one of creating knowledge and skills; constructive thinking; adjusting attitudes and behaviors, etc. In critical-essay instruction, teachers have many ways to form this competency for learners such as focusing on building "background" knowledge and skills; associating the training of writing skills with awakening and developing cognitive creativeness competency; changing models in practising critical-essay writing, and so on.
