Librarians’ awareness of library digital transformation at general education institutions in Di An city, Binh Duong province

Abstract

The research investigated the awareness of librarians at general education institutions in Di An city, Binh Duong province, regarding digital transformation and its implementations in related tasks. Qualitative data from interviews with librarians at several general education establishments in Di An city showed that most librarians are not fully aware of digital transformation. Also, the difficulties of librarians when implementing digital transformation of school libraries in Di An city, included lack of information technology skills, lack of knowledge of library expertise, lack of guidance, limited school infrastructure, difficulties in data management, feeling new about digital transformation and resistance from a change-resistant mindset of library staff as well as library users. The study then proposed some suggestions for the digital transformation of libraries in general education institutions in Di An city, Binh Duong province.
