Global Green Bond Policy and Green Bond Policy in Vietnam: An Overview and Some Recommendations

Abstract

The development of the green debt instrument market, particularly the green bond market, has become increasingly a global capital market trend. With Vietnam's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, policies for developing the green bond market in Vietnam are becoming more critical than ever. This article provides an overview of global green bond policies based on the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) data. Additionally, the paper synthesizes the current green bond policies in Vietnam, offering an overview of the development of the Vietnamese green bond market through statistical figures. These findings serve as a basis for recommendations to contribute to developing the green bond market in Vietnam in the near future.
