Abstract

The participation of parents in family care and education activities has a significant impact on the development prospects of children with autism spectrum disorder, especially in the early intervention stage. This study aims to gain an overview of coaching programs for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder in the world. Through the use of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA), with two academic databases, Google Scholar and ProQuest, 15 parent coaching programs for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder that meet the set criteria were included in the analysis. The analysis process showed the diversity in the number of training programs, focused skill groups as well as the approaches used. However, these programs had many similarities in terms of duration, organizational form as well as application of coaching techniques. This review provided suggestions for identifying high-quality parent coaching programs as well as a foundation for developing future parent coaching programs in the Vietnam context.
