Abstract

Based on the advantages of story-reading activities in developing communication skills, such as providing a diverse and practical vocabulary, rich context, high interactivity, and vivid visual images, this article presents the initial findings on the effectiveness of utilizing story-reading activities to foster communication skills in children with ASD aged 4-5 years. The study was conducted through in-depth interviews with 10 parents and pedagogical experiments. The results showed that the proposed interventions helped parents improve their awareness and skills in reading stories to children with ASD, thereby significantly improving communication skills in this group of children. This study contributes to affirming the crucial role of parents in supporting communication development for children with ASD and provides an effective and easily implemented intervention activity at home.
