Abstract

Along with the development of science and technology, the development of cochlear implants has created opportunities for hearing-impaired children to access listening, thereby maximizing their spoken language to integrate into society. Speech perception of hearing-impaired children with cochlear implants is one of the aspects of spoken language that has been focused on by many studies from a very early age. This article describes the research results on speech perception of hearing-impaired children with cochlear implants through narrative review and content analysis from 22 articles published from 1998 to 2020. Results showed that most studies were conducted in different countries around the world, most of which are America and China. These 22 articles focused on two research directions: (1) assessing the speech perception ability of hearing-loss children with cochlear implants and (2) the factors affecting on speech perception ability of hearing-impaired children with cochlear implants. The findings obtained from the content analysis of these 22 articles are valuable for future studies on speech perception of hearing loss children with cochlear implants in Vietnam.
