Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic outbreak has caused unprecedented shocks to the world economy as well as seriously affecting international trade. It is a huge negative for countries which are advantages in exporting. This paper aims to analyze the impact of the Covid-19 on the turnover of rice export in Vietnam. The quantitative method is employed in the study both strongly balanced panel data for 16 months and 28 countries (448 observations) from September, 2019 to the end of December, 2020. The econometric model is further improved based on the gravity model with the negative binomial distribution in the dependent variable. More interestingly, the research results reveal that the Covid-19 infection in Vietnam does not affect the turnover of rice export.  Simultaneously, this situation in other
countries has a positive effect on Vietnam’s turnover of rice export.
