Roles of bank in financial inclusion development: Current situation and recommendations

Abstract

 The paper explores a number of perspectives about financial inclusion as well as clarifies the role of banks in financial inclusion. Besides, the paper has analyzed the role of the bank in developing financial inclusion in Vietnam, compared with other regional. The situation is analyzed through two groups of indicators: the bank’s coverage and the use of banking products and services through a 7-year research period from 2012 to 2018. The results show that the banks in Vietnam has played an important role in promoting financial inclusion in Vietnam, but the level of financial inclusion is still lower than some regional countries such as Thailand Malaysia and, Indonesia. The paper also outlines some recommendations to promote financial inclusion through banks in Vietnam.
