SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+ COMPLEXES WITH ANTHRACENE-CONTAINING LIGAND

Abstract
This work reports the synthesis and characterization of Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+ complexes with 1,2-bis[(anthracen-9-ylmethyl)amino]ethane. Herein, two ligands were synthesized: 1,2-Bis[(anthracen-9-ylmethylen)amino]ethane (BAAE1) and 1,2-Bis[(anthracen-9-ylmethy)amino]ethane (BAAE2). BAAE1 was synthesized via condensation reaction between ethylenediamine and anthracene-9-carcbadehyde, which was then reduced by NaBH4 in methanol to give BAAE2. The complexes were prepared from acetate salts of corresponding methanol ions and BAAE2. The formation of the compounds was investigated by IR, NMR and MS spectroscopy.
