PREPARATION TITANIUM DIOXIDE NANOMATERIAL FROM BINH DINH ILMENITE ORE BY SULFATE PROCESS AND APPLICATION FOR DECOMPOSITION OF ORGANIC POLLUTANTS

Abstract

   Preparation of titanium dioxide nanomaterial from Binh Dinh illmenite using sulfuricacid factor to decompose ore was investigated. The titanium dioxidephotocatalyst was prepared under the conditions of 90% sulfuric acid aqueous, theratio between ilmenite mass and sulfuric acid volume was 3:1, ore was decomposedabout 210 °C for 6 hours and calcination temperature of TiO(OH)2 was 650 oC in twohours. The obtained TiO2 material with the present of elements such as iron andsulfur show better photocatalytic activity than that of a commercial TiO2 powder fordegradation of methylene blue even under ultraviolet radiation.
