Abstract
In this study, carbon aerogel (CA) from sugarcane bagasse, TiO2 and carbon nanotube were fabricated to
nanocomposite to be used as electrode for desalination equipment using CDI capacitive technology.
CA/TiO2/CNTs nanocomposite material has advantages due to inheriting properties from CA materials such
as high surface area, electrochemical stability of TiO2 and high electrical conductivity of CNTs. The
CA/TiO2-30/CNTs-5 nanocomposite has outstanding capacitance reaching 167 F/g and high charge-discharge durability of 1000 cycles. Investigating the desalination ability, the CA/TiO2-30/CNTs-5 electrode
achieved a high salt adsorption capacity value of ~21 mg/g with a fast salt adsorption rate at a potential of
1.4 V.
